The reigning league champions defeated the Chanji Boys 1-0 after Emmanuel Odafe converted from the spot in the 56th minute but Ambrose who played during the encounter highlighted that the downpour before and during the tie made it difficult for them to control the flight of the ball.
“I will only say they were lucky to lose by just 1-0 because the rain that fell seriously affected our game plan and it was difficult to handle or do anything with the ball,” Ambrose told Goal.
“The artificial pitch did not retain the rainwater but it made it harder for us to control the ball. We had to improvise to hold on to the goal we scored. We had to make do with what we got and the win is very important to us.
“Katsina United are a good side but they were no match for us because we still tried to dominate the game irrespective of the challenge we had with the rain. This win has added to our points and we are expecting another fine performance on Wednesday.”
The midfielder has thus charged his teammates to approach their next league tie against Wikki Tourists on Wednesday with the same mentality as they strive to make their way to the top of the league table again.
“We have another game on Wednesday against Wikki Tourists and it is a tie we must target another win because of our present position.
“They are like our neighbours because we are sharing the same stadium but we need the three points more and we shall go into the game full of confidence that we can do it. It will no doubt be a tough game but we must be ready to suffer and claim the three points.”
Plateau United are fourth in the league table with 28 points from 16 matches
