Jamie Redknapp identifies Mohamed Salah’s best playing position for Liverpool

Former Liverpool midfielder Jame Redknapp is convinced that a centre-forward role for Mohamed Salah will benefit Liverpool after his brilliant display against Bournemouth.

Salah scored a hat-trick as the Reds humiliated Eddie Howe’s 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium – the goals made him the first Liverpool player to score an away Premier League hat-trick since Luis Suarez in March 2014.

He led the attack on Saturday for his 16th league appearance alongside Roberto Firmino as Jurgen Klopp turned to a 4-4-2 formation.

Despite the switch in his playing position, Salah who has featured mostly on the flanks for Klopp’s men completed 46 passes and also converted every of his shot on target [3].

His outstanding performance has left Redknapp certain that he can be of more benefits to the team as a centre-forward.

"There's been questions over where his best position is. Do you play him down the middle or do you play him our wide? I think you saw the real benefits of playing him in a central position,” Redknapp told SkySports.

"The problems he causes defenders, running on the shoulder, the third goal epitomised that.

“I thought Liverpool were very comfortable and it shows the strength of the squad they have."

Liverpool face a must-win Uefa Champions League clash against Napoli on Tuesday and Salah, scorer of 12 goals this campaign, will aim to help last season’s finalists confirm their passage to the knockout round with victory at Anfield.
