FC Pune City head coach Ranko Popovic was critical about the red card to his defender Lalchhuanmawia Fanai against Jamshedpur following his side's 1-0 win at the Tata Sports Complex on Sunday. The coach also remarked that the pitch made it difficult for his side to play their natural passing game.
On Pune's performance, he said, "I think we had two clear chances ruled offside. The red card was something that is ridiculous."
"Today for this, to lose one player is too hard. This is their first goal conceded and it is from us. I'm satisfied with what we are trying. Whenever we tried to play passes, we were good."
Popovic refused to be drawn into issues surrounding the pitch in Jamshedpur.
"This was tough but it is for many reasons. I don't want to speak about the pitch. The ground was against us. Everyone has different styles, our style is to try to play. We try to make our passes with a good combination and we will continue to do this."
The coach ended the post-match presser by reserving special praise for the people in Jamshedpur and the ambience that they created.
"To have this kind of people and ambience, I hope we can create something like this in Pune," concluded the coach.
