FC Pune City had a night to remember as they slammed put five goals past a hapless NorthEast United at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Saturday. A hat-trick from Marcelinho and goals from Ashique Kuruniyan and Adil Khan saw Pune rise to the second spot on the table.
Head coach of NorthEast United Joao de Deus was disappointed after his side's humiliation in Pune.
"We had a terrible day. Today we conceded five that is not usual. We failed to score from our first chance, we were against their goalkeeper we failed, and instead they scored. It's not normal, but we lacked intensity in midfield. Everybody is disappointed so am I," expressed de Deus.
The Portuguese lamented that his team creates opportunities but fails to convert them.
"We got 4-5 good chances to score but we always create and fail to score. The opponents score because we commit mistakes. We gave a silly free-kick and Marcelinho scored. We conceded two counter-attack goals that we should not have. But this is football," said the former left-back.
He acknowledged that his team is in a tough situation and it will be difficult to make a come back.
"Of course we are in a difficult position to come back from. We have to be better in our future matches," signed off de Deus.
