ISL 2017-18: Miguel Portugal - Kerala Blasters are 'compact' and 'difficult to beat'

Delhi Dynamos head coach Miguel Angel Portugal reckons that it will be a good matchup when his side takes the field against Kerala Blasters at the JLN Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.

"Kerala [Blasters] are a good team. [They are] Very strong in defence and have a very good midfield with experienced [players] like Wes Brown. They are a good, compact team. It is difficult to beat Kerala. I think it is a good match for us.

"The most important thing is to play well and win. The point [from last game] is good for the team and the confidence," said Portugal, who finds his team languishing at the bottom of the Indian Super League (ISL) table with just four points from eight games.

Kerala Blasters parted ways with Rene Meulensteen after their crushing defeat against rivals Bengaluru FC on New Year's Eve and have seen a change of head coach with Englishman David James taking charge for their draw against FC Pune City.

"I know David James. He was a good goalkeeper for England. I think he always had a good talent for coaching," lauded Portugal.

After six consecutive defeats, a late Guyon Fernandez equaliser earned Dynamos a point against Chennaiyin FC and Portugal was seen celebrating on the sidelines.

"I am very happy. After the six losses, it is normal. It [celebration] is not [for] the one point. It is for playing well, for playing good football. We had a good game against Mumbai and Mumbai scored four goals from five opportunities. We had nine chances and we didn't score. In the last match, we scored two goals," Portugal signed off.
