ISL 2017-18: Bengaluru FC sign striker Daniel Segovia on deadline day

Indian Super League (ISL) leaders Bengaluru FC have once more delved into the transfer market on deadline day to sign striker Daniel Segovia.

The Blues opted to rope in the 32-year-old after Braulio Nobrega suffered a season-ending injury recently.

With the club set to embark on a busy period of fixtures with continental commitments to boot, Albert Roca prioritised the signing of a new striker to aid Sunil Chhetri and Miku who have shouldered the goalscoring burden so far for the team.

"We are looking to replace him (Nobrega) and it is not easy as a lot of windows (in different countries) have already closed. We have until the 15th (of February) and let's see if we can sign someone," he had revealed after Bengaluru FC's 3-1 win over Chennaiyin FC last week.

Roca has finally got his reinforcement and expressed his satisfaction. "With Braulio out for the rest of the season, we needed a striker. Segovia is experienced and fits into that role, so we are very happy to have him. I wish him the best and hope that he will help us achieve our objectives this season.”

Segovia came through the youth setup of Rayo Vallecano and then plied his trade at CF Fuenlabrada, Algeciras CF, Real Zaragoza 'B', Atlético Pinto and UB Conquense in the Spanish league system.

In January 2017, he moved to Azerbaijan, joining Premier League side Neftchi Bak before opting to switch to Bengaluru.
