Dominic Iorfa has completed a loan move to Ipswich town after agreeing on a deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers till the end of the 2018/19 season.

The 22-year-old defender has been a part of the system at the Molineux since his switch from Southend United in 2013.

But with Wolves new boss, Nuno Espirito Santo's acquisition of five new defenders, including Ghana international Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, the England U21 international will move to fellow English Championship side for the upcoming season.

His move to the Blues is the second of such in his senior career after enjoying a temporary stint at Shrewsbury Town in 2013.

His new coach, Mick McCarthy spoke highly of the versatile defender, who comes in to challenge Jordan Spence for a right-back slot not also leaving out the prospects of playing him as a central defender.

“I’m thrilled to have got Dominic. He is an England U21 international who has played close on 100 league games and knows the Championship well,” McCarthy told the club website.

“He is very athletic, has got great pace and can play at centre-half as well as right-back and is equally good in both roles.

“With the defenders we already have here in the squad and with Dominic coming in, we have really good options in that area.”

On his move to the club, Iorfa said: "I'm happy to be here because Ipswich is a good Club.

"I spoke to the manager a few days ago and he told me about the plans for the season; he really sold it to me.

"The moment I spoke to him, I couldn't wait to get here and get started."
