Against the Hammers, the 2015 African Footballer of the Year offered very little with one shot on target and 37 passes, before making way for super-sub Danny Welbeck after 75 minutes.

Aside from the fact that he is playing under his second manager at Emirates Stadium, it is difficult to explain Aubameyang’s noteworthy drop in form.

Perhaps he is less comfortable with his new team’s playing pattern under the Spaniard.

Notwithstanding, the 29-year-old has the quality to rediscover his scoring form as he will certainly get a fair share of action on matchdays, but he must start firing on all cylinders as soon as possible to show the world that the 'real' Aubameyang is not a faded memory.
