The Enyimba and Flying Eagles skipper has expressed his joy at his invitation to the national team camp ahead of the upcoming games

New Super Eagles invitee, Ikouwem Utin is excited to be handed a maiden call up to the Nigeria national team and he has promised to do everything possible to measure up to the standard while in camp.

Utin and his teammate, Valentine Ozornwafor were among the shining lights in the Flying Eagles squad to the 2019 African U20 Cup of Nations in the Niger Republic and both players have been rewarded with their first call up to the Super Eagles.

The left-back hinted that his invitation to the national team is a dream come true and that he hopes to give his call up to the Eagles his best shot to ensure that he becomes an integral member of the team.

“I just want to say that I am really happy about this invitation. It is a dream come true for me because it is one of my dreams to aspire to play for the Super Eagles,” Utin told Goal.

“I knew that my own time would come and it was the reason I kept on working hard. I thank God for what he used me to achieve during the U20 competition in Niger. I am looking forward to our game with Sunshine Stars first before talking about Eagles as from Monday.

“I know that it won’t be easy keeping pace with others that have distinguished themselves in the Eagles but I am sure that with more hard work and prayer I can also make myself relevant in the team. I am ready to give my best to ensure that I am part of this team.”

The Enyimba left-back and his teammate in the Flying Eagles and at club level were able to make the CAF Best XI at the end of the competition in Niger Republic where the four countries that will represent Africa at the Fifa U20 World Cup in Poland were selected with Mali, Senegal, South Africa, and Nigeria making the cut.
