Ighalo outshines Hulk as Changchun Yatai defeat Shanghai SIPG

Odion Ighalo scored a brace to inspire Changchun Yatai to a 2-1 victory over Shanghai SIPG in Sunday's Chinese Super League clash.

Last week, the former Watford marksman netted an impressive four against Guizhou Hengfeng to equal the likes of Peter Utaka and Kwame Ayew for the record of most goals in a Chinese top-flight game. And he continued on the same wavelength against Vitor Pereira's men, grabbing the curtain raiser and the match-winning strike to propel his side to their third league win of the season.

In the 14th minute, Ighalo benefitted from a clearance by right-back Zhe Jiang, beat the offside trap before calmly slotting past Junling Yan to give his side the lead.

Four minutes before the break, they were pegged back after Lei Wu converted a neat cutback from Brazil international Hulk who started the nice team play that led to the goal.

But Ighalo was on hand to win the game for the hosts with his seventh goal of the campaign after striking a ferocious effort into the right bottom corner in the 69th minute.

The hosts were almost dealt a late blow after conceding a penalty but Hulk struck his effort against the post.

The win saw Chen Jingang's side, who started the season in an underwhelming manner, swap 13th for seventh place in the log.

They have now collected 11 points from eight games and will face Jiangsu Suning for their next top-flight outing on May 6.
