On Monday, defending champions Aizawl FC let go of head coach Paulo Meneses after Aizawl failed to register a win in their last seven games. Under the Portuguese tactician, Aizawl obtained 17 points from 13 matches and are sixth on the table.
The club has now appointed Santosh Kashyap to replace Meneses at the helm. Kashyap coached Mumbai FC in the 2016-17 season of the I-League but was shown the door in the month of March. The 51-year-old was replaced by Oscar Bruzon but it was too late for the Maharashtra-based club to save themselves as the damage was done and resulted in relegation at the end of the season. Later, the club was shut down.
