Highlands Park confirm Tendai Ndoro signing

The Lions of the North have looked to the former Buccaneers striker as they hope to assure their place in the PSL this season

Highlands Park have confirmed the signing of Tendai Ndoro after the Zimbabwean impressed during his time training with the club.

Ndoro was most recently on the books of Ajax Cape Town where he was at the center of much controversy due to his eligibility being called into question.

After being found guilty of having played for three clubs in a single season, contravening Fifa rules, the Urban Warriors were subsequently docked points and relegated to the National First Division (NFD). This led to the club eventually parting ways with the Zimbabwean at the end of the past season.

Ndoro has previously been linked with Kaizer Chiefs among others but it was confirmed to Goal that the striker was training with Owen Da Gama’s side with an aim of impressing and earning a contract.

Nonetheless, the 33-year-old former Orlando Pirates striker has received his wish as he has been handed a one-year-deal with Highlands Park as they look to maintain their place in the South African topflight.

Although, Highlands Park will be counting on the experience of Ndoro, it now remains to be seen just when he will take to the field.

While Ajax faced the wrath of the league for fielding Ndoro, the player was also handed down a two-match ban, which he is yet to serve.

Highlands Park currently find themselves in eighth place on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table having tasted just one win since making their return. The Lions of the North put Golden Arrows to the sword only to fall to Free State Stars on the weekend.

The club will now look to pick themselves up expectedly without the services of Ndoro as they lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs on October 10.
