The Owena Whales had bowed 1-0 at Katsina United two weeks ago and were seeking to avoid a back-to-back defeat on their travels against Stanley Eguma's side.
The visitors managed to execute their script, holding their nerves to deny the hosts the crucial three points to ease their relegation fears at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.
And the gaffer, who pleased with their latest away outcome, assures they will maintain the high confidence in the quest to pick more points.
"The game [of football] is about two phases - offense and defence," Abiodun told media.
"We played very well against the league leaders [Lobi Stars] and outrightly dominated them but we got nothing from the match.
"We came to defend. We use the second phase which is defending [against Rivers United] and we got a point. It was a good result for us and will continue to work hard to achieve our targets."
With the draw, Sunshine Stars still remain 19th with 25 points from 23 games, though now three points away from safety and will welcome Nasarawa United to Akure on Sunday.
