Gor Mahia moved fast to tie down the dependable player with a deal that will keep the right back at the club until July 2021

Gor Mahia defender Wellington Ochieng has signed a contract extension with the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions.

Ochieng, who resumed training after sitting out for close to three months with a knee injury, was rewarded with a three-year contract extension barely two weeks after he resumed training with the league leaders.

Gor Mahia moved fast to tie down the dependable player with a deal that will keep the right back at the club until July 2021.

Ochieng was set to run out of contract at the end of June.

“I am excited to get a new deal at Gor Mahia. This is a great club and l will work together with the team and technical staffs to achieve the best,” Ochieng’ told the official Gor Mahia website afer signing the contract.

Gor Mahia, known for letting some of their best players leave on a free transfer, seems to have learnt from Meddie Kagere’s case after the Burundian international left the club as a free-agent.

Kagere joined Tanzanian champions Simba Sc on a two-year deal.

Ochieng is expected to resume full training with the rest of the squad after Cecafa tournament that kicked off on Friday in Tanzania.
