The 17-year-old has caught the headlines with his stunning displays for the India junior teams...

When India participated in the U17 World Cup held last year, a host of youngsters were billed as potential superstars.

One of the most appreciated names in that squad was that of young defender Anwar Ali. The 17-year-old has been fantastic for the Indian Arrows as well as junior teams of the Indian national team.

He was particularly impressive for India U20 team when they scripted one of the best victories ever by an India team at any age group.

As India U20 team fashioned a sensational moment for themselves when they defeated footballing giants Argentina's U20 team in the COTIF Cup in Spain on Sunday, Anwar Ali was treading uncharted waters.

Never before had India beaten an opponent of that magnitude across any age group of football. The star for the Indian team on that night was none other than young Ali.

Not only did he help India win 2-1 despite the team going down to 10-men for quite a while in the second half with some resolute defending, he also scored the goal that helped the team go 2-0 up before Argentina pulled one back.

After Deepak Tangri sent India ahead early on in the game, Anwar helped India hold off wave after wave of Argentine attacks before he stepped up for a freekick in the second-half.

He sent a stunning right footed effort into the far corner where it hit the post and went in, sending India 2-0 up. Argentina got a goal back but some brilliant defending, led by Ali, helped them get the win.

Ultimately, his stellar show gave India a momentous win and he is rightly named as Goal's Rising Star of the Month!
