The modern football has generated a new style of play were players who are deployed on the flanks can be the key in terms of scoring and creating the chances for others to score.

This is different from the past few years were wingers used to cross the ball for the strikers to score and it was very rare to get a on the flanks a player who could score more than ten goals in a season.

This modern style of play has produced the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lieonel Messi, Arjen Roben, Mohamed Salah and others.

In the Tanzania Premer League we have also witnessed the same especially this season as wingers contributed a lot to their teams in terms of scoring and creating the chances.

Emmanuel Okwi (Simba)

The Ugandan winger has emerged as Simba's top performer this season. Although he has had three different spells at the club but this is arguably his best season and he has managed to lift the club from obscurity and back to the big time.

His style of play is a joy to watch, coming from the flanks, Okwi’s scoring form was incredible and he is the winner of golden boot award with 20 goals to his name.

Shiza Kichuya (Simba)

Surely, one of the contenders for the player of the Season Award. His contributions in creating goals was amazing and he also scored when chances came his way.

His ten assists and seven goals would have been an amazing return for any winger in any league in the world.

Kigi Makasi (Singida United)

He has endured an up and down career, taking in spells with Simba and Yanga before disappearing from the big teams.

However, his fighting character has afforded him longevity in the game. He has to thank Hans van Pluijm who has contributed a lot to his revival.

At Singida United, Makasi has played a big role this season to make the newly promoted side one of the toughest teams to face. His domination especially in the left flank made many teams struggle to play against them.

Adam Salamba (Stand United, Lipuli)

Yanga’s top target in the coming transfer window. This season Salamba has played for two different clubs, started the season as a Stand United player, the winger switched to Lipuli in the January transfer window.

His contributions since he joined the club have been outstanding, with his performances leading big guns such as Azam, Yanga and Simba to fight for his signature.

Ibrahim Ajib (Yanga)

The outer pass specialist, joined Yanga from Simba prior to this season and went on to score seven goals and created six for his teammates from the left flank.

His contributions in this Yanga side can be measured when he is not in the squad.
