The Ghana full-back hopes they could put an end to their league predicament on Saturday

Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful wants his team to be strong in their bid to end their losing run in Major League Soccer.

It has not been the best two weeks for the Black and Gold following defeats to Vancouver Whitecaps (2-1), Chicago Fire (1-0) and DC United (1-0).

Ahead of Saturday's visit of New England Revolution, Afful is hopeful of a turnaround in fortunes.

"It's tough but we will keep working, we have to put this behind us," the Ghana international told his club's official website.

"We are professionals and we need to get better.

"I think we are ready to go. Losing three on a go is really bad, but we have to be mentally and physically strong to be able to compete in the next game. That is what we are doing.

"We have to keep working hard every day.

"We just have to be ready and determined and remain focused. We have to stick with the game plan and make sure we take our chances and I believe with that we will be fine."

Crew have consequently fallen to fourth on the Eastern Conference table.

Afful has been a key part of the Black and Gold's set-up this season, having started and lasted for the entire duration of all seven games played thus far.

He is in his fourth year at MAPFRE Stadium.
