Guinea-Bissau international Toni Silva could be to the South Africa to join Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Mamelodi Sundowns this winter.

The attacking midfielder is currently a free agent having parted ways with Greek Super League club Levadiakos FC a few months ago.

Silva, whose full name is Toni Brito Silva Sá, was linked with Cape Town City prior to the January transfer window.

The Citizens reportedly tried to sign the 24-year-old winger last December, but Levadiakos were unwilling to sell the player to the Mother City club.

According to Soka25, Silva, who was nurtured by Liverpool, looks set to join the Brazilians at the end of the current campaign.

"Although, the Brazilians have yet to strike a deal with Silva’s agent, it is thought the player has indicated his willingness to move to South Africa and the framework of a contract of undisclosed value a year has been discussed," reports Soka25.

City are said to have targeted and signed Uganda international Allan Kateregga midway through the current campaign after failing to sign Silva.

"Sundowns rivals Cape Town City had previously tried to sign the Guinea-Bissau international back in December last year, but Levadiakos were not prepared to lose him back then. The Premier Soccer League outfit went on to sign Allan Kateregga," said the publication.

Sundowns have already exhausted the PSL foreign quota for the season having registered Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento, Ghana international Brimah Razak, Uruguayan winger Gaston Sirino, New Zealander Jeremy Brockie as well as Ivorian central defender Soumahoro Bangaly.

It remains to be seen who the 2016 Caf Champions League winners will offload during the upcoming July-August transfer window in order to create space for Silva if they're really interested in his services.

The attacker was part of the Guinea-Bissau team that was beaten 3-1 by Bafana Bafana in an international friendly match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in March 2017.
