Favour Akeem upbeat about Supreme Court's chances in Federation Cup

Favour Akeem believes Supreme Court side will progress to the quarterfinal following a vital goalless draw with Sunshine Stars in the Federation Cup.

The Nigerian U17 star, who came on as a second-half substitute against the Owena Whales as the Abuja based third division side forced their top-flight opponent.

Earlier, the former NPFL U15 midfielder played part in the Nigeria Nationwide League side in the ouster of famous Shooting Stars and topflight Go Round.

And the 2018 U17 WAFU Zone B Cup winner is unperturbed about the pedigree of Enugu Rangers and El Kanemi Warriors as he insists they are ready to upset any team.

“We played very well and just that the goal didn't come against Sunshine Stars,” Akeem told Goal.

"For me, having a winning spirit first from the starting of the FA cup till now I think we will go far except there is no luck on our side but for me, we will go far definitely.

“We are in the competition to compete for honours and want to attain such great position by winning our matches and taking our opponents by surprise.

“I feel very good and happy because it's my first time playing against Premier League sides. So it's a big game for me and an opportunity to showcase my ability and talent.

“It has been a very good experience and exposure for me. The coaches I have met are blessings to me because the training and fitness have really made me want I am today.

"I thank them for that. I want to keep developing and hope I get a chance to play for the national team.”

Supreme Court will take on Enugu Rangers on Wednesday before facing El Kanemi Warriors in the group phase on Friday at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
