Our Fantasy writer looks at the return of Premier League action and picks out the best players from Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and more

After a long international break, the Premier League returned with a bang this weekend. There were at least three combined goals in six of this round’s matches with the top three of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham recording the most strikes. Naturally, each of those clubs have provided at least one player for our Goal Fantasy Team of the Week. To see who they are, and who joined them, just keep reading.

GK: Wayne Hennessey - Crystal Palace - 1 Game, 5 Saves, 1 Clean Sheet = 9 Points

DEF: Trent Alexander-Arnold - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Clean Sheet = 14 Points

It’s been Andrew Robertson who has been receiving the majority of plaudits this season but Alexander-Arnold’s performance on Saturday has surely forced himself back into the ownership conversation. His sweet free kick increased Liverpool’s lead to three and his contributions at the back helped to both secure the clean sheet and the win.

Despite this, it’s probably wise to forgo the Englishman this week considering Liverpool face PSG midweek and then, at the weekend an Everton side who have failed to score just twice this season.

DEF: Erik Durm - Huddersfield - 1 Game, 1 Assist, 1 Clean Sheet = 10 Points

Ciaran Clark Newcastle United

DEF: Ciaran Clark - Newcastle - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Goal Conceded = 8 Points

MID: Leroy Sane - Manchester City - 1 Game, 2 Goals, 1 Assist = 17 Points

While it’s hard to guess which Manchester City midfielder will be the best each week, it’s not too hard to assume that at least one of them will end up on this list. This time it was Sane whose star shone brightest, scoring two goals and registering an assist, making him our Goal Fantasy Player of the week.

As for Sane’s overall Fantasy outlook, if he starts for City he should start for you. He has directly contributed to a goal in every match in which he’s played 70 or more minutes.

MID: Raheem Sterling - Manchester City - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 2 Assists = 14 Points

Raheem Sterling Manchester City West Ham

MID: Aaron Mooy - Huddersfield - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 14 Points

The Australian sensation showed up in a big way on Sunday, and helped Huddersfield secure their third consecutive Premier League result. His brace, while impressive, is certainly not something that you can, or should expect considering he’s never scored more than four goals in a season in England. While a fantastic player on the whole, he just does not provide enough in the traditional scoring categories to warrant a second glance in the Goal game.

MID: Stuart Armstrong - Southampton - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 14 Points

MID: Dele Alli - Tottenham - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 11 Points

FOR: Aleksandar Mitrovic - Fulham - 1 Game, 2 Goals = 12 Points

After a hot start to the season, Mitrovic had pretty much slowed to a halt until Saturday. In his first match under new manager Claudio Ranieri, the Serbian striker registered more goals (two) and shots on target (three) than he had in his last six matches under Slavisa Jokanovic. Even with his previous dip in form, Mitrovic is still a top-five forward in the Goal game and, at just £7.1m, represents one of it’s greatest values as well.

FOR: Roberto Firmino - Liverpool - 1 Game, 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 10 Points
