EXTRA TIME: Referee headbutts Angolan player in Bafana Bafana friendly

Masuekama Natael found himself on the wrong side of referee Joshua Bondo, who headbutted the player after penalizing him for a foul against Bafana

What was going on in Tuesday's international friendly match between South Africa and Angola at the Buffalo City Stadium?

Referee Joshua 'Sprinter' Bondo awarded a free-kick to South Africa, but looked to have headbutted Angolan player Masuekama Natael in the process.

Natael went down like someone who was looking for the referee's attention to get an opponent sent off, but little did he know that the man in charge was actually the 'perpertrator'.

Did Bondo intend to head Natael, or was it an accident?

Watch below and decide for yourself.

Former football referee Errol Sweeney, who officiated in South Africa for many years prior to his retirement, condemned Bondo's behaviour and feels the Botswana referee should have avoided the incident.

Sweeney was a no nonsense referee during his professional refereeing career. He's affectionately known as 'The Hanging Judge'.
