Although the Black Stars failed to qualify for the World Cup this time, Ghanaians have not been denied the fun of the showpiece

As expected, England's historic penalty shootout victory over Colombia at the ongoing World Cup in Russia generated a crazy buzz around the world on social media.

Ghana, who failed to make it to this year's championship, was no exception.

At Otkritie Arena in Moscow, the Three Lions exorcised their penalty devils at the World Cup with a 4-3 victory over Jose Pekerman's outfit, the game having ended 1-1 after extra-time.

Captain Harry Kane opened the scoring for England in the 57th minute from the spot, before Barcelona defender Yerry Mina restored parity in normal time stoppage.

Social media became the ground for jubilations and lamentations alike - all based on users individual allegiances.
