Much is expected of the men from Merseyside this season and our tipster thinks that Ronald Koeman's men will make a solid start against the Potters

Everton kick off their Premier League campaign against Stoke City at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, and much is expected of Ronald Koeman's charges this season.

With a number of tough fixtures coming up in the early weeks of the campaign, the Toffees will be desperate to lay down a marker by taking all three points against the Potters on Merseyside.

Koeman's men have already been in competitive action this season, claiming a hard-fought 2-0 aggregate win against Slovakian side MFK Ruzomberok in the Europa League - with the men from Merseyside claiming a slender 1-0 win in both legs of that tie.

Koeman's men can be backed at 20/29 (1.69) with SportPesa to claim their third successive competitive victory of the season by taking all three points against Mark Hughes' men, with 11/4 (3.75) that this match ends all square.

Stoke struggled to find their best form last season, particularly on their travels where the Potters picked up just four Premier League wins. Furthermore, Stoke have lost Marko Arnautovic to West Ham United and the absence of the influential Austrian could be pivotal this season as Hughes and his players seek to defy their doubters.

Victory at Goodison Park would certainly represent a superb start to the season for Stoke and there is 17/4 (5.25) that the visitors pick up all three points from their trip to Merseyside.

The Toffees are adjusting to life without the services of last season's top goalscorer, Romelu Lukaku, who made the move to Old Trafford last month and Everton supporters will be hopeful that Wayne Rooney can make an impact In his second spell with the club, having travelled in the opposite direction to Lukaku over the summer.

The Toffees, too, have strengthened at the back - Koeman spent big to bring Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane to the club from Sunderland and Burnley respectively.

The approach certainly seems to have paid dividends, with the Toffees keeping a clean sheet in both of their Europa League fixtures against Ruzomberok and there is 6/5 (2.20) that Everton make it a hat-trick by shutting out Stoke in Saturday's curtain-raiser.

The Toffees had a superb home record last season, picking up 43 points from their 19 Premier League home games and better value, therefore, may lie in backing Koeman's men to win to nil against the Potters at Goodison Park at 33/20 (2.65) this weekend.
