Atletico Madrid have enjoyed a record-breaking start to the season, with Los Rojiblancos currently on their longest ever unbeaten start.

Friday night sees them attempt to end the year in historic fashion, with Diego Simeone's side aiming to complete an entire year unbeaten on the road in La Liga after 12 victories and eight draws since their last away defeat in December 2016.

The La Liga record for consecutive unbeaten matches on the road is 23 held by Barcelona and Atleti will hope to get closer to that figure when they visit the Blaugrana's cross city rivals, Espanyol, but Los Pericos will be desperate for some festive cheer with manager Quique Sanchez Flores under increasing pressure after a run of just two wins in ten league games.

That run is unlikely to improve against an Atletico side that looks like being back to their resolutely organized best, and bet365 offer the hosts at a healthy 4/1 (5.00) to claim three points.

Atletico, meanwhile, can be backed at 8/11 (1.72) to win a game which bet365 will be live streaming for UK-based customers with a funded or active account, whilst the draw offered at 5/2 (3.50).

One the of the main problems facing Espanyol this season has been a lack of goals, with the Catalans managing just 13 strikes in their 16 league matches; indeed, only two sides in the Spanish flight have scored fewer goals and Flores' men have been overly reliant on their forward Gerard Moreno in the final third.

The former Villarreal man has scored seven of his side's 13 goals, which is 53 percent, the highest percentage for any player of their team's goals in La Liga.

If Atletico can keep Moreno quiet, then they should be more than capable of keep a clean sheet, with no side conceding fewer goals in La Liga than the Madrid outfit.

Los Rojiblancos have kept clean sheets in each of their last five away matches and backing them to do so once more at evens (2.00) against one of the division's most goal-shy sides makes sense.
