A close game was expected at Wembley but Spurs blew away the Bundesliga leaders with three second half goals to put one foot in the quarter-finals

Tottenham have been to cut to 16/1 (17.0) to win the Champions League after a stunning 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their last 16 match on Wednesday.

Late goals from Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente added to Son Heung-min’s earlier strike and gave Spurs a commanding aggregate lead, prompting bet365 to shorten them from 25/1 (26.0).

The scoreline may have flattered Spurs as just five of their 15 shots were on target, whilst at the other end a string of fine saves from Hugo Lloris ensured there was no precious away goal for Dortmund.

That ended a streak of 13 consecutive matches in which the Bundesliga leaders have scored and it is no surprise to see them pushed out to 150/1 (from 25/1) to win the tournament.

Only three teams have ever overturned a three-goal deficit in the second leg of a Champions League tie so Dortmund will join prestigious company if they are able to make it into the quarter-finals.

Also on Wednesday night, Marco Asensio struck a late winner for Real Madrid at Ajax and allow the reigning champions to take a 2-1 lead back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

There was an air of controversy in the first half as Nicolas Tagliafico become the first player in Champions League history to have a goal disallowed by VAR, but Real took full advantage and the aggregate lead.

They are now 9/1 (in from 10/1) with bet365 to lift the trophy for the fourth season in a row, whilst the Amsterdam outfit can be backed at 200/1 (201.0) - although they were 125/1 (126.0) pre-match anyway.

Manchester United’s Champions League dream appears to have all but ended after they lost 2-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, putting Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men all the way out to 125/1 (126.0) from 25/1 (26.0).

PSG are third-favourites at 5/1 (6.0) ahead of the return leg in the French capital, whilst Tuesday’s other winner Roma are still 80/1 (81.0) despite holding a 2-1 lead against 150/1 (151.0) Porto.
