Cedric Bakambu brace guides Beijing Guoan to easy win over Demba Ba’s Shanghai Shenhua

Cedric Bakambu fired Beijing Guoan to their 15th win in the Super League with a brace in an easy 3-1 win against Demba Ba’s Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old handed his side a two-goal lead from the penalty spot before completing his double to ensure there was no repeat of November 2nd’s 0-0 draw at Tianjin Quanjian.

Roger Schmidt's men began the clash at the Worker's Stadium on an impressive note as Guoan raced into the lead thanks to Bakambu’s assist.

The Congolese doubled the lead from the penalty mark in the 32nd minute while Yang Yu’s own goal helped Shenhua reduce the deficit.

In the 65th minute, Bakambu ensured that the visitors nursed no ambition of levelling scores after completing his brace thanks to Cheng Piao’s assist.

Things got worse for Wu Jingui’s team 12 minutes later after Yunqiu LI was sent for by referee Ning Ma for a serious foul play.

Senegal’s Ba lasted for only 70 minutes before making way for Jianrong Zhu. With this, Bakambu now boasts of 18 league goals from 22 games – nine short of topscorer Lei Wu.

Beijing Guoan are fourth in the log with 53 points from 29 outings. They face Hebei CFFC in their next outing on November 11.
