Burkina Faso striker Alain Traore joins Moroccan side RSB Berkane

Burkina Faso international striker Alain Traore has joined Moroccan side RSB Berkane on a three-year deal from Qatari side Al-Markhiya.

The former Auxerre amd Monaco forward successfully completed his medical tests on Thursday and will officially be unveiled on Saturday.

Traore joins compatriots Issoufou Dayo at Berkane, who are enjoying a debut season in the Caf Confederation Cup group stages.

At Berkane, he will have big shoes to fill following the departure to China of Morocco international star forward Ayoub El-Kaabi.

After parting ways with Al-Markhiya, Traore had been training with the reserves side of French League 1 side Lyon, home to his younger brother and former Chelsea forward Bertrand.

Traore has scored 21 goals in 54 caps for Burkina Faso. The move boosts his chances of cementing his place in the Burkina Faso squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

This after enduring an inconsistent spell with his former Qatari club.

Burkina Faso continue their Afcon qualifying campaign with a visit to Mauritania in September after starting brightly with a 3-1 win over Angola.
