Kaizer Chiefs will look to avoid their third loss in a row in all competitions when they host Maritzburg United on Saturday afternoon, and veteran striker Bernard Parker wants nothing but a win.

Parker said they are on a mission to finish third, but they will have to beat the Team of Choce who are unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions.

Contrastingly, Amakhosi have lost their recent two matches, a 2-0 Nedbank Cup semi-final loss to Free State Stars and a 3-1 defeat to Golden Arrows, but Parker remains confident of a win at home.

As Amakhosi sit fourth on the log table with 42 points from 28 games, Fadlu Davids’ men find themselves third on the log with 43 points and the clash promises to be a thriller.

Both Premier Soccer League giants will battle it out for Caf Confederation Cup qualification as log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns and second-placed Orlando Pirates have secured spots in next year’s Champions League.

However, under interim coach Patrick Mabedi assisted by legend Arthur Zwane, the former skipper will hope to lead the club to his first victory in charge as they want to finish on a high.

“We are on a mission to finish third as that will give us a position in the Caf Confederation Cup,” said Parker to the club’s website.

“We have been knocked hard. We need to reset ourselves mentally. It’s a big challenge as a footballer. We have to be mentally strong and stick together,” he continued.

“We want to win the final two matches of the season because we want to finish in a good frame of mind,” concluded Parker.
