Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali reacts after 100 games for KV Oostende

Jali was honoured by Oostende for his milestone, and the midfielder is delighted with his achievements in Belgium

When Andile Jali left Orlando Pirates for KV Oostende in January 2014, not many football fans expected him to stay this long in Belgium, especially because the majority of South African players easily give up and return home.

However, Jali has a different story to tell after playing his 100th official match for Oostende over the past weekend.

It took the 27-year-old midfielder three-and-a-half years to reach the milestone, and perhaps he could have achieved this very early in his career in Europe had he featured regularly for Oostende last season.

Jali has 12 appearances under his belt this season, and although results have not been forthcoming for Oostende, he's pleased to have played 100 games for the Belgian club.

"I’m happy that I’ve played 100 games for the team. Results are not good, but we will take it as a team and do better because we’ll keep fighting. We were fighting until the last minute, we don’t deserve this, but it’s happening and it’s football. We can’t control this," Jali told the Belgian media.
"I think we’re doing good now, but the results are not coming. If we keep playing like this then something will come up. I’m happy to play 100 games for Oostende after three years I’ve been here. So, I’m happy," added Jali.

Jali, who has been a regular member of the Bafana Bafana squad over past few years, will look to extend the feat beyond the 100 games when Oostende face Benni McCarthy's former club St Truiden on the weekend.
