Asian Cup 2019 - Jordan to play against Lebanon and Oman in September

West Asian side Jordan are all set to play two friendly matches on September 6 and 11 against Lebanon and Oman respectively as part of their preparation for the upcoming Asian Cup 2019 in January.

Jordan, who are ranked 110th in the latest FIFA rankings and 19th in Asia, will be conducting a training camp in Qatar in December where they will play matches against the Kyrgyz Republic and the host nation.

They are also planning to organise a friendly tournament in November in case the West Asian Championship is called off. Jordan’s last international match was against Cyprus which they won 3-0.

In the Asian Cup, Jordan are placed in the Group B alongside Asian giants Australia and Syria. Palestine is the fourth team in the group.

India are also taking part in the continental championship after a gap of eight years. Stephen Constantine’s men, who are currently ranked 96 in the latest rankings and 14th in Asia, are placed in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts UAE, Thailand and Bahrain.

As preparation for the Asian Cup, the Sunil Chhetri-led side will be playing against some big names in Asian football. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have also confirmed that the team will be playing a friendly match against China in October and pre-tournament match in December against Oman.

India’s last international match was against Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup final in Mumbai back in June which they won. They had beaten Kenya twice and Chinese Taipei and lost to New Zealand.
