Arabian Gulf League: Al Ain FC seal Marcus Berg transfer from Pananthinaikos

Al Ain FC
The UAE outfit have secured a major coup by roping in the Swede.

Marcus Berg has joined Al Ain FC from Pananthinaikos, the United Arab Emirates club announced on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) giants.

The Sweden international is set to play alongside Omar Abdulrahman, Yousef Ahmed and recent signing Tsukasa Shiotani.

Berg has proven to be a prolific striker during his time with Greek side Pananthinaikos. He's scored 73 goals in 116 league appearances since signing from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg in 2013.

The forward finished last season as the league's top scorer and Al Ain will be hoping that he can solve their lack of goal-scoring prowess.

With AGL rivals and reigning champions Al Jazira signing UAE hitman Ahmed Khalil from Al Ahli to partner top scorer Ali Mabkhout up front next season, Berg's arrival comes as a worthy response to the challenge from the capital side.
