New AFC Leopards have handed Argentine Rodolfo Zapata a two-year contract.

The club had initially planned to hand the Argentine six months, but according to Chairman Dan Mule, the 51-year-old will get an extended 18 months after both parties agreed to sign a long-term deal.

“It is true we had initially planned to give him (Rodolfo) six months, but we decided to change.

"In those six months, he can do extremely well and refuse to extend his contract until new demands are met.

“It is that scenario we wanted to avoid, but we believe he is the right man for us."

Zapata is expected to take charge of his first match on Tuesday when Leopards takes on Gor Mahia in the Hull City Challenge Cup, a match to determine who plays Hull City.
