Odera, who scored four goals in four appearances for the ‘Big Cats’, beat Kenyan Premier League leading scorer, Elvis Rupia of Nzoia Sugar and Mathare United midfielder Cliff Nyakeya for the monthly gong.
Rupia is currently topping the chart with eight goals, two above Odera with Nyakeya coming joint third on five goals.
Odera, who also lost his mother during the month, garnered 11 votes ahead of Nyakeya and Rupia who both tallied seven and six votes respectively.
Odera found the back of the net against Sony sugar, Mathare United, Wazito and Kakamega Homeboyz to shoot AFC Leopards to the third spot in March.
Nyakeya had three goals and an assist that helped keep Mathare United on the league summit.
Rupia’s four goals were instrumental in lifting Nzoia from the relegation pit.
Odera became the first Leopards player to ever win the LG sponsored award since its inception four years ago.
Three players from the club have in the past made it to the shortlist without landing the gong.
The award comes with a Sh100,000 cash prize a 49-inch screen and a personalized trophy.
