It is derby time again and Amakhosi will be out to be crowned kings of Soweto for the second time this season

Kaizer Chiefs have an opportunity to storm into the top-three on the Premier Soccer League standings when they visit Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

It is a battle between fifth-placed Chiefs and the Dube Birds, who are second from the bottom on the table.

This is a match with the potential to end Swallows coach Brandon Truter's time in charge, which has been on the line since the start of the season.

Victory for Amakhosi would see them move past SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United to settle on the third spot.

Swallows will also be keen to vacate the relegation zone with a win to occupy 12th position, given that Baroka FC lose to Arrows on the same afternoon.

After Chiefs edged their biggest Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates earlier in November, they have another chance to claim derby rights in Dobsonville.

Squads & Team News

Kaizer Chiefs are expecting the return of attacker Kahama Billiat, who missed their last game against AmaZulu at home due to illness.

Coach Stuart Baxter said he is confident the Zimbabwean will be back on his feet and make the short trip to Dobsonville.

Amakhosi will go into this match without central midfielder Cole Alexander, who is suspended after being sent off against Usuthu.

Forward Leonardo Castro is back from injury and played a cameo role against Maritzburg United but missed the AmaZulu match.

He could return, together with defender Siyabonga Ngezana, who is available after recovering from injury.

Striker Samir Nurkovic is still working to regain fitness after surgery on his knee.

Truter’s job is hanging by the thread and this is a match he needs all his players to be available.

None of his players are suspended while the availability of Tebogo Langerman and Grant Margeman is uncertain after they both missed the 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy.

Match Preview

This is a match between teams facing contrasting fortunes as Chiefs are fighting to improve and challenge Sundowns for the league title.

Swallows on the other hand are battling for safety from demotion.

Chiefs have not been consistent but they have still managed to get themselves into the top five so far and have managed three wins, a draw and a defeat in their last five outings.

The Birds have a worrisome record of having gone for 10 games without winning.

Since edging Royal AM 1-0 in their season opener on August 22, Swallows have endured five defeats and as many draws.

The last meeting between Chiefs and Swallows ended in a 1-1 draw at FNB Stadium in May.
