Commentary

FULL TIME: MELBOURNE CITY 4 WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS 3 - We have been treated to a Tuesday night special at AAMI Park tonight, in a game that gave us seven goals between the two teams. In the end Melbourne City have nudged out the Wanderers to a 4-3 win, relegating the Wanderers to their worst ever losing streak. The Wanderers came out determined to level the scores and they did that in the 49th minute through Mourdoukoutas. In the 53rd minute, Sotirio had the Wanderers believing they could, after he was assisted by Bonevacia. However it all changed in the 66th minute with a second yellow card to Keanu Baccus. From there it was all Melbourne City, with a great effort by de Laet to find the back of the net and then Schenkeveld was able to score the winner in the 94th minute, to keep Melbourne City's Tuesday night undefeated streak alive.

HALF TIME: MELBOURNE CITY 2 WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS 1 - A fantastic first half has come to a close with Melbourne City going into the break holding a 2-1 lead over the Wanderers. It all started with a 31 second goal by de Laet, which left the Wanderers scratching their heads. The Wanderers recovered and were rewarded with a 28th minute penalty goal from Bonevacia, after Good brought down Sotirio inside the box. Although the Wanderers had the momentum, Brattan put on something special in the 38th minute to give Melbourne City the lead at half time.
45' + 3' Fitzgerald is barged over by Jamieson and brought down just outside of the box. The referee awards a set piece to the Wanderers in a very dangerous position. Bonevacia takes the kick and kicks it straight into the wall.
45' + 2' Berenguer floats it into the box for Melbourne City, but nobody is home. The ball returns to sender as Berenguer fires a shot at goal, just inside the box, but it skims the crossbar.
45' We have three minutes of stoppage time to play for the first half.
44' The ref stops the game for the moment as the VAR checks an incident inside the Wanderers attacking box. Both Elrich and Llorente are furious. The VAR says nothing to see here, as he gives the green light for the play to continue.
