Liverpool record an unwanted double
In the 8th minute Michael Soosairaj had a chance but he put his shot over. However merely five minutes later Nandhakumar made no such mistake as he found Charles with a perfect square pass which the Brazilian striker put it past Albino Gomes with ease.
About five minutes from the half time mark, Chennai went two goals to the good when Vanspaul took advantage of lax defending as he chipped it past an onrushing Albino in goal.
In the 53rd minute Al Amna exchanged passes with Stephen Kamo Bayi and received a delightful return to get one back for the champions with a smart effort.
David Luiz: Title all that matters
Around ten minutes later, Aizawl had the all elusive equaliser and it was after some real good work by Jayesh Rane from the left and Danmawia was there at hand to nod it home.
With the champions on the ascendancy, the winner was nearby and it was Danmawia who completed his brace in the 81st minute. It was Bayi who found the winger with a through ball and he made no mistake smashing it past Karanjit to record a tremendous comeback.
In added time Nandhakumar came close but smashed it into the side netting after Soosai Raj played him on.
Aizawl play Churchill next while Chennai City are in action against East Bengal.
