Football fans have 'flooded' Thomas Partey's Instagram account expressing strongly differing opinions regarding the Arsenal star's influence for the Black Stars at the World Cup.
The West African played all three Group H matches for Ghana who were eliminated after finishing at the bottom of their group with three points.
The only victory for the Black Stars came in their second match against South Korea whereby they emerged 3-2 victors. However, they had lost their opening match against Portugal by the same margin before losing 2-0 against Uruguay.
Partey was remorseful and went on to promise better next time.
"It was our biggest wish to give Ghanaians something to cheer about but, unfortunately, it didn’t go as we wanted," the Arsenal defensive midfielder posted.
"I want to say a huge thank you for the unconditional support from home and across the world. "With the support of God, we will come back stronger."
Here are the fan reactions.
Do you remember you told us the same thing in January after your abysmal performance at Afcon? You guys don’t play with urgency, purpose, and passion as you do at your clubs - Quame Phrimpong

You really can’t compare Club and country. The setup is different, the talent pool is different the pattern of play is different, and the quality of the team is different. How did Ghana reach the World Cup? And wasn’t Partey like second or thirrd leading goal scorer in qualifying? Playing in a World Cup is the biggest motivator for any player and remember that’s a dream they have had from a kid. Give the players and the team some credit, they’ve done well - Jrmn Omar
You were the most disappointing player in this tournament - Sheikh Awudu
My Arsenal people, you wanted Partey, and now he is back. Y'all should Partey now? - Heiz Daniel
To be honest it’s about time you come out clear, about whether you really want to play for the country or not thanks - Nath Mayback

Poor play from you. You never soldier on a battlefield. Ungrateful and a selfish play - Timo
