Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was the subject of criticism among African fans on social media following his two errors that saw his country lose 2-0 to the Netherlands.
Mendy failed to deal with a cross in the box before Cody Gakpo pounced to score. Moments later, the Chelsea goalkeeper spilt Memphis Depay’s shot, allowing Davy Klaassen to slot in the second.
Senegal had put in a spirited display until that moment and looked on course to secure a goalless draw and supporters feel the custodian now needs to be dropped in the Teranga Lions’ subsequent matches.
