Shopane was signed by Cape Town All Stars on a season-long loan deal at the start of the campaign, but he's back at Amakhosi

Itumeleng Shopane is back at Kaizer Chiefs following an unsuccessful loan spell at Cape Town All Stars, and Goal has discovered why the striker returned to the Soweto giants.

The 20-year-old marksman was sent out on loan at the start of the campaign as Chiefs were hoping he could gain some much-needed experience.

According to a source within the Amakhosi camp, things just didn't work out for Shopane in the National First Division club, and the club took him back a few months ago.

"He's been here for a few weeks now. He has featured for our MultiChoice Diski Challenge team for the last couple of games. Things just didn't work out at Cape Town All Stars because they felt he wasn’t offering enough to the team, and the club decided that he should come back," the source told Goal

Shopane managed 11 appearances for All Stars without finding the back of the net during the first half of the current campaign.

He will consider himself very unfortunate given that he was initially given the opportunity to try his luck at Richard Bay United before the start of the current campaign.

However, he couldn't crack it after spending a week at the KwaZulu Natal-based club, and he was back at Naturena towards the end of July 2017.

In August 2017, Shopane was presented with another chance of playing regular football at a higher level than the MDC when Chiefs loaned him out to All Stars, but he finds himself back at the club, after less than four months in the Mother City.

Shopane was part of the South African U20 national team that competed in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, and while his future looked bright at the time, the Taung-born player is still struggling to break into the semi-professional ranks.

The lanky forward found the back of the net as Amakhosi beat Polokwane City 2-0 in the MDC this past weekend.
