After an extended period of injury struggles, the American striker opened his account with Darmstadt on Satuday.

It's been a long road back from injury, but Terrence Boyd finally scored his first Bundesliga goal on Saturday.

Boyd, making his third straight start for Darmstadt after a January transfer from RB Leipzig, scored 20 minutes into his side's Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The goal helped Darmstadt to a massive 2-1 win over Dortmund, in a game that also saw Boyd's international teammate Christian Pulisic play the full match.

The U.S. international striker tore his ACL in December 2014, and suffered various setbacks in his recovery. After nearly two years out, Boyd featured for Leipzig's reserve squad this season but failed to make a first-team appearance before his transfer to Darmstadt.

The 25-year-old has 14 caps for the United States, and has yet to score a goal. He made a two-minute cameo against New Zealand in an October friendly, ending a nearly two-year absence from the national team.
