There's a reason the Portland Timbers faithful boo Clint Dempsey the moment he steps on the pitch at Providence Park.

The U.S. national team star has scored a slew of big goals against the Seattle Sounders' archrivals over the years, and he did so again Sunday with a dramatic, last-gasp equalizer.

It was center back Roman Torres who served as an unlikely provider, getting down the right flank and serving the cross that Dempsey nodded home in the 94th minute to earn 10-man Seattle a 2-2 draw.

Joevin Jones had given the Sounders a 27th-minute lead, but the Timbers capitalized on a Brad Evans red card by scoring on a Fanendo Adi penalty and Dairon Asprilla header just before halftime.

Dempsey came on as a 56th-minute sub after starting a midweek draw with Orlando City, and that decision paid dividends as the 34-year-old found the energy to steal a point for his side deep into second-half stoppage time.
