GOR MAHIA COMPLETES THE RETURN OF KENNETH MUGUNA
Gor Mahia have sealed the return of Kenneth Muguna on a three-year contract.
Muguna was a Gor Mahia player before he left the club to try out professional football in Albania with KF Tirana. The move however, flopped as the former player of the year sought to return home, despite having a four-year contract with the club.
Muguna is now a Gor Mahia player, after he penned a contract to return to the champions. An elated Muguna told Goal after he was unveiled, “I am very happy to return home, I call Gor Mahia home because this was my last club in Kenya before I left for Albania.
“I want to assure fans that I will give my best to help the team achieve the targets for next season. I am very elated to return to the Kenyan champions.”
BATAMBUZE PENS TWO-YEAR CONTRAXCT WITH GOR MAHIA
Ugandan midfielder Shafik Batambuze has signed a two-year deal with Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
The much-traveled Ugandan is expected to add depth in K’Ogalo's rank ahead of what promises to be a tough season as Gor Mahia prepares to defend the title as well as a chance to better their Caf Champions League performance.
“The deal is done. We have handed him a two-year deal,” Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda told Goal.
Regionally, Batambuze has played for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Singida United as well as Uganda’s SC Villa.
GOR MAHIA DENY CHASING FOR STRIKER ALLAN WANGA
Gor Mahia have denied reports that they are chasing for the services of Allan Wanga.
“The list that I have from the technical bench, we don’t have the name of Wanga. So we are not signing him. Those are what we call rumours and not transfer targets. We will sign players according to the list from the technical bench.”
Gor Mahia have already made two signings in – Kenneth Muguna and Shafik Batambuze. Muguna returned to K’Ogalo on a three-year contract from KF Tirana in Albania whereas Batambuze penned a two-year deal to leave Singida United of Tanzania.
Goal however, understands that Gor Mahia are poised to sign Dennis Odhiambo of Sofapaka and former youth player Cliff Nyakeya, who turns out for Mathare United.
FRED AMBANI JOINS RELEGATED WAZITO FC AS ASSISTANT
Fred Ambani is set to take over the vacant assistant position role at Wazito following the resignation of George Midenyo on Monday.
Midenyo tendered his resignation, but it did not take the relegated side much time before replacing him.
Ambani, who left Nairobi Stima, will be the assistant to Ahmed Mohamed, who was elevated to the head of the technical bench at Wazito following the exit of Frank Ouna. Ouna has since joined newly promoted Kenyan Premier League side, KCB.
Meanwhile, George Owoko replaces Ibrahim Shikanda at Nairobi Stima. KCB got promoted to the top tier alongside National Super League winner Western Stima while Wazito dropped to the second tier together with Thika United.
POSTA RANGERS COACH REVEALS TARGET FOR NEW SEASON
Posta Rangers head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says this time round he is going for fresh and raw talent ahead of the new season.
The mailmen struggled badly in the just concluded season and had to wait until the final game of the season to know their fate. ‘Pamzo’ has reiterated the need to restructure his team in this short pre-season to avoid a repeat of 2018.
“It will be tough to prize away players from other clubs owing to the short period in between the just concluded season and the new one. As a result, we have decided to do things differently this season. We will have our trials and go for fresh talent, players who can give us what we want.
“Last season was not our best and we want to avoid that, by restructuring it means we want to make the team better,” Omollo told Goal in an interview.
The team is set to release few players to create space for the coming ones.
MATASI SEALS TRANSFER SWITCH TO ST.GEORGES OF ETHIOPIA
Harambee Stars keeper Patrick Matasi has officially been unveiled at St. Georges of Ethiopia.
The transfer comes just hours after Goal exclusively reported that only the World governing body Fifa was standing in the way of Matasi from sealing the much anticipated switch after Football Kenya Federation approved the same.
Matasi has been on top form for both club and country, something that caught the eye of the Ethiopian giants. Matasi says he is ready for the new challenge ahead and hopes he will have an instant impact for his new team.
“I have today (Thursday) committed to play for the Mighty Saint Georges football club for the next three years. It is a challenge I accept with confidence and excitement. I believe this is the right moment for me to take over this new assignment."
This move will definitely push Tusker to venture into the transfer window with an intention of getting a replacement.
AFC LEOPARDS LOSE NIGERIAN STRIKER TO ETHIOPIA
AFC Leopards striker Alex Orotomal has been unveiled in Ethiopia.
The lanky Nigerian attacker has officially left the Den to sign for St. Georges in a deal that will see Ingwe receive Sh1.5m from the Ethiopian giants.
On Friday, Goal exclusively reported that Ingwe had reached an agreement to release the Nigerian striker after they accepted a Sh1.5m bid from the club. A source privy to the deal confirmed to Goal that the lanky Nigerian striker was already training with St. Georges awaiting the two clubs to reach an agreement before he signs a contract that was likely to be two years.
"St George's fourth foreign player. The 26-year-old Alex Orotomal from Kenya joins the team on a two-year contract," confirmed the club.
Orotomal signed for Ingwe from Rwandan side Sunrise FC and was used in the second leg of the Kenyan Premier League season.
