Our tipster thinks that Vladimir Petkovic's charges will turn in a typically solid display against Erik Hamren's men in the Uefa Nations League

Switzerland and Iceland kick off their respective Nations League campaigns when they meet on Saturday evening.

The last two years has been a fairytale period in Icelandic football. They reached the last eight of Euro 2016 and then became the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup before picking up a point against Argentina.

The dream, though, is in danger of turning into a nightmare, for Iceland have failed to win any of their last seven matches - including all three in Russia.

Latest odds

SportPesa offer 17/4 (5.25) that Iceland open their Nations League campaign with a fantastic victory, while the same firm go 49/20 (3.45) that the match ends in a draw.

Switzerland were superb on home soil on the road to the World Cup in Russia, winning five of their six home qualifiers and keeping five clean sheets in the process.

It is no surprise, then, that the Swiss are available at just 20/29 (1.69) with SportPesa to win in St Gallen on Saturday.

Team news

Two men who play their club football in Merseyside could play a pivotal role this weekend, for Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson is a key man for Iceland, while Liverpool's Xherdan Shaqiri will be asked to pull the strings for the Swiss.

Solid Swiss

With eight clean sheets in their last nine matches on their own patch, Switzerland could prove tough to break down and SportPesa go 10/11 (1.91) that hosts shut out the visitors.

Better value, though, could lie in backing Petkovic's well-drilled side to win without conceding at 27/20 (2.35) with SportPesa ahead of Saturday's showdown on Swiss soil - the selection would have landed in seven of Switzerland's last eight home wins.
