Sofapaka are understood to be preparing to bolster their squad during the mid season window with Matasi among the top targets.
Coach John Baraza made clear his intention to beef up the squad despite the side, making several signings last January that saw Stephen Waruru, Kepha Aswani, Teddy Osok, Kevin Kimani, Ellie Asieche, Mousa Omar and Ibrahim Kitawi brought into the ranks.
Though Baraza will have to make a final decision after the first round, talks have been on going with Matasi and Chemelil Sugar’s goalkeeper John Waw being identified as potential targets.
Sofapaka officials ‘casted’ votes on who, between Waw and Matasi, is the best option to help cover for the Ugandan Mathias Kigonya, and the die fell on Matasi.
“The club settled on Matasi but Waw is still in our plans if we don’t get to reach an agreement with the top target,” said a source from Sofapaka, who spoke exlusively to Goal.
Batoto Ba Mungu, who are sixth on the log with 21 points, will be in action against Zoo Kericho FC on Saturday.
