RUMOURS: Chelsea eye Morata as Diego Costa replacement

The Stamford Bridge outfit may soon be without the services of their star striker after a bust-up with the manager and are now preparing for the worst

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made contact with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Alvaro Morata in January, Calciomercato reports.

Diego Costa was left out of the Blues' squad for the clash against Leicester City on Saturday as a result of a bust-up with Conte, and now the Spain international's future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt.

With huge-money offers from China on the table, Chelsea are understandably looking for replacements and have put Morata at the top of their wishlist.

With Madrid's transfer ban in place until the summer, however, it appears unlikely that the Spanish capital club will part ways with Karim Benzema's back-up.
