The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed the forward will serve a one-year ban for breaching transfer rules

Rivers Angels will miss the services of forward Alice Ogebe in the final against Ibom Angels on Tuesday in Yenagoa after she handed a one-year ban from the Federation Cup.

Her ban came in the heels of a lodged protest by Bayelsa Queens against Edwin Okon’s side, contesting the eligibility of Ogebe, who featured in the semi-final 2-0 win almost two weeks ago.

In it verdict, the Nigeria Football Federation disciplinary committee confirmed that the forward breached Fifa regulations on players’ transfer after playing for Serbian side Crvena Zvezda without due registration, while still on the books of the Nigeria Women Premier League side.

Despite exonerating the Port Harcourt side, the NFF suspended the player for one-year and as well threw out Bayelsa Queens protest after there was no proof of Ogebe’s transfer.

“The player Alice Ogebe was duly registered to participate for the 2017/ 2018 Aiteo Cup Competition in line with Art. 2.3(d) & (e) of the Rules and Regulations of Federation Cup 2018,” the NFF decision read.

“That the player Alice Ogebe is in breach of Art. 11 of FiFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of players, 2018 and hereby banned from participating in the Aiteo Cup Competition for a period of One Season starting from 20th day of October, 2018.’

The development means the Jewels of Rivers will now be without two key strikers against Ibom Angels following the exit of joint topscorer Yetunde Adegboyejo, who recently returned to Europe.

In spite of the duo's absence, they will be aiming to lift the Women's Federation Cup for a record eighth time against last year's finalists at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
