2009 Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka appointment Melis Medo as the new coach ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The former Nakumatt FC tactician was given a two-year deal by Batoto ba Mungu, who have been under John Baraza on an interim basis. President Eli Kalekwa has revealed to Goal the reason behind the decision to hire the American born coach.

“We have been doing well since earning promotion, consistently featuring in the top team's list. But we have of late missed something to spur us to glory, missing top honors. That is what we want to address this season and ensure we win the league.

“Medo has what it takes to help us win the league next season. He is experienced and skilled in his line of work, and the knowledge he has acquired is what we want. We will give him all the resources he wishes for to enable him execute his duties as agreed.

“We really want to win the league this season and I know by the end of the season we will achieve it.”

Sofapaka finished in the top five last season and managed to reach the FKF Shield Cup finals where they lost to Kariobangi Sharks.
