The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee (PSL DC) has found Bloemfontein Celtic guilty of the ugly scenes that took place at Dr. Molemela Stadium which saw their game against Cape Town City being abandoned after 23 minutes.

In a statement released by the league on Friday morning, the PSL DC ordered that the match be forfeited to Cape Town City, meaning Benni McCarthy's side has been awarded the three points with a 3-0 scoreline.

The PSL had announced soon after the match was abandoned that the match would be replayed.

However, the PSL DC decided that the match be forfeited, meaning both teams have technically now played 27 league matches.

The verdict means Cape Town City are up to fourth on the PSL log with 44 points from 27 matches.

It also means that McCarthy's team has leapfrogged SuperSport United, who are now fifth on the standings with three games to go before the end of the season.

Furthermore, this means City is mathematically back in the title race but their chances of lifting the trophy are very slim unless Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns lose all their remaining three matches.
