The 28-year-old was on loan last season and regrets not having time to work under the Spaniard

Wilfried Bony admits playing under Pep Guardiola would had been a great experience for him.

The Ivory Coast international striker joined the Citizens in January 2015 but struggled to replicate the form he displayed at Swansea scoring just 11 goals in 46 appearances.

And with the Catalonian taking the over the helm at the Etihad last season, the striker was sent on loan to Stoke City -a spell which proved to be unfruitful.

But with the Ivorian’s return to South Wales, he rues the opportunity missed to work with one of the best coaches in the world but he's glad for his return to Swansea.

"Pep Guardiola is one the best coaches in the world," Bony told Footmercato.

“Playing under him would have been something great.

“We had a good relationship. The most important thing for me now is to focus on my team, Swansea.

“I want to give the best of myself. It was a bit difficult at the end. I had injuries. There were some good moments. We won the [League] Cup.

“The team reached the Champions League semifinals, which the club had never done before.

"In any case, it was a good experience. You're always learning. I learned lessons from that adventure. To come back to the club that has made me what I am in England is more than a privilege, it's more than joy. I'm at home here." he concluded.

Paul Clement's side will welcome Newcastle United to the Liberty Stadium on Sunday with Bony in line to make his debut since his deadline day move.
