Asante Kotoko midfielder Jackson Owusu has apologised to the club's supporters following an ‘unsatisfactory’ campaign in the 2017 Ghana Premier League season.

The Kumasi-giants last lifted the trophy in 2014 and have a slim chance of making it into the top four this campaign, however, Owusu says they will defeat Hearts of Oak in the FA Cup final to make up for it.

“We are sorry that we couldn't win the Ghana Premier League trophy this season. We wanted to win the league and the FA Cup but we couldn’t achieve our targets,” Owusu told

"We will try our best to win the FA Cup [against Hearts] to appease the supporters after the disappointment in the league," he added.

Back from a long injury layoff, Owusu is currently enjoying a brilliant form which he attributes to hard work.

“I have been training a lot after coming back from the [anterior cruciate ligament] injury. I decided to work hard to enable me come back into the starting team. Hard work has been my secret and I always try to do my best in every game for the club,” he added.

Kotoko sit fourth on the log with 43 points, one point above Wa All Stars, with a tricky trip to Accra on final day against relegation-threatened Liberty Professionals.
